Robin is a graduate of Wake Forest University and the University of Richmond School of Law. She practiced law before becoming chief executive officer of the Richmond SPCA in 1997. She is a Trustee Emeritus of the Richmond Ballet and former member of the Board of the National Federation of Humane Societies. Robin received the 2012 Outstanding Woman Award from the YWCA of Richmond. She is married to Ed Starr, a partner in the law firm of Troutman Sanders, and their daughter Tyler is a sophomore at Princeton University. Under Robin’s leadership, Richmond SPCA operates a no-kill humane center saving the lives of about 3,500 animals annually and an affordable veterinary clinic providing full service medical care to about 7,000 pets of low income guardians annually.
