Our family just recently within the past 2 years heard of puppy mills. This past school year our oldest daughter had an assignment to present a service project idea to her class and also her Beta Club. She chose to educate her classmates about puppy mills and explain why we need to get involved. We learned a lot while researching for her project and the more we learned, the more we became determined to find out what we can do to help. She found out that her Beta Club will be leading only 2 service committees this coming year and she was chosen to head a committee specific to helping animals. When we learned of this opportunity to join TAFA for Lobby Day, we jumped at the chance to attend, meet others who are committed to the same cause and learn as much as we can about how to get involved in our community. We are very eager to receive any tips as to how to get the word out and ideas for how school aged children can also get involved to make a difference.

We are very proud of our daughter for her decision to educate her classmates about puppy mills. We believe attending Lobby Day in our Nation’s Capital will further open her eyes as to the problems these animals face every single day and hopefully strengthen her resolve to help put an end to animal cruelty. We hope she will also get ideas as to how to ensure her Beta Club Service Committee will be successful in making a difference.
